Labyrinth and Maze Toys for Kids!
I've begun looking around for Christmas gifts for my chlildren. I came across this wonderful junior maze (for Otis 5yrs) and it got me thinking about other, similar toys. I'm certain these are ideal for building concentration, developing hand-eye coordination, and visual perception. They'd also be interesting to make use of with family or friends.
Many of these would be well suited to a Montessori environment, gross motor area or toddle place!
I love this quotation from MontessoriReStore. It combines the imagery of the circle as well as the spiral into a meandering but purposeful path. It represents a journey to our own centre and back out again into the planet . The simplicity engages the right side of the brain allowing instinct, imagination and imagery to form a meditative activity to reconnect you with your centre. It is often found to improve wellness, express emotions and make a sense of well-being for centuries. Use a private maze to center a kid between jobs or merely when the kid wants a minute of reflection."

Christmas Puzzles to Love - 2 to 5 Years
Below are some of the most gorgeous and Montessori family friendly Christmas puzzles! It's all about stacking, sorting, sequencing, patterns, and discovering sequence!
All of these puzzles would work superbly in a tray or on a young child's work ledges. I actually love the natural timber puzzles. Don't forget about nesting dolls, they make amazing decorations and kids love to stack, sort and put them away. The age ranges are a guide only.

Christmas Tree Triangle Puzzle.
Gingerbread Houses Family Puzzle. This puzzle was created to be used by a group of people with different ability levels as it's three different sized bits. I love at Christmas to truly have a puzzle going on the table for everyone to lead to and this puzzle would be perfect! It's 400 pieces.
Present Ideas for the Montessori Kid - Christmas
When trying to find Christmas gift ideas it's easy to think all the great toys come from overseas. These gift ideas do not comprise Montessori stuff however they are suited to the Montessori child and they're all made by Australian firms. I've really tried to contain as many small businesses and handcrafted goods as possible while also emphasizing some of our favourite Australian merchandises! A number of these shops send overseas also.
Small backpacks perfect for independent Montessori kids by Bagbini (international transport available).
Playdough and accessories at Joyful Hands Happy Heart (we adore this playdough, the texture and fragrances are exceptional).
Gentle skin care from Sukin.
Natural toothpaste (we've used this brand for years) and compostable toothbrushes from Jack N' Jill (also obtainable in the US here).
Wholesome Flash Cards (great for all types of learning) at Teepee Learning (international transportation accessible). I also love these Pregnancy and Birth Affirmation Cards.
There are very few Montessori substance producers in Australia but Wood Puzzles has a great array of language materials and Australian made wooden trays. I suggest the Magnetic Movable Alphabet as well as the pictured Alphabet Boards.
Kid size, real, Tool Set and Horticulture Set with Gloves at Me2Me2.
The Happy Architect and Alphabet Duplicate Pairs at The Freckled Frog.
Infant Morris board books at Little Children Matters.
DIY Coloured Beeswax Kit by Luxmi (this is the little kit for making birthday candles, would be wonderful for a younger child, the bigger coloured kit is recorded here).
Star Garland at KirraKai (Etsy), perfect child and environmentally friendly decorations.
And how adorable is this soft Humpback Whale and these felt fruits and vegetables? I trust you enjoyed this small snippet of what Australian shops must give!
